O3i Onboard



O3i Onboard is an industry first solution that integrates multiple brands of access control hardware into a common platform.


O3i Onboard acts as a middleware to seamlessly eliminate proprietary softwares which are normally associated with the access control hardware, thereby paving a way forward for a brand agnostic and non proprietary solution.


The story of O3i Onboard is inspiring and goes on to say that, if there is a problem, it can surely be solved.



it started with a problem



In the past world, the access controllers used to integrate only with their specific brand of softwares, making interoperability impossible.


Unlike CCTV IP cameras, which have matured over the years to agree upon a standard like ONVIF, the same has never happened in the access control domain.


Customers were stuck with their access control hardware & software and have had to live with their limitations and issues.


The only possible outcome was to change the complete system which could either mean jumping from a frying pan into a fire or prohibitively very expensive.



at o3i, we saw an opportunity



The number of customers who approached us with the same problem was overwhelming.


We decided to play Mediator.


Issue # 1 : #Scale : Customers had grown organically. Their current system used to crash, not able to perform and overall caused major issues.


Issue # 2 : #Undue Advantage : OEMs started taking undue advantage of the locked customer. Increasing maintenance contract rates, forcing paid software upgrades, announcing end of life for working controllers etc.


Issue # 3 : #Cost : if customers chose to break free, they were either burdened with a prohibitive budget to replace all systems or live with what they currently had.



we delivered onboard



Built from ground up, we partnered with Genetec, the leader in open & non proprietary PSIM solutions. The maturity Genetec demonstrated at a software level was much appreciated and gave us the confidence to achieve our goals.


We started to integrate unsupported access controllers to Genetec, by eliminating their proprietary software and establishing a direct connection between hardware (OEM) > middleware (Onboard) > software (Genetec).


Our Middleware started with integrating Virdi Brand of Access, Biometric & Face recognition controllers. Today, Onboard has matured in a full fledged application with support to FaceX, Solus, Sterna & Radiant brand of access controllers that are now integrated with Genetec.


O3i Onboard is now a middleware tool that has helped solve real world problems in the access control industry.
